Why women wait years longer for a diagnosis

Advancing early detection and access to care for women living with noncommunicable diseases

Women experience delays in detection and diagnosis across major noncommunicable diseases, including cardio-kidney-metabolic and cardiovascular conditions, breast and cervical cancer, and neurological conditions. Biological differences and structural barriers can leave women undiagnosed or diagnosed later, while gaps in screening, diagnostic capacity, referral pathways and workforce training limit timely access to care.

Convened by Partnership for Women’sWellness and Siemens Healthineers on the sidelines of UNGA81, this high-level moderated roundtable will bring together approximately 35 leaders from government, patient advocacy, philanthropy, industry and global health. Participants will examine where women are missed between first symptoms and treatment, how diagnostic innovation can translate into accessible screening and care, and which practical steps can be advanced over the next 12 months.

The 90-minute session opens with a light lunch.
