FP Energy Forum @ UNGA79
As the UN Global Stocktake at COP28 last November made clear, the world is failing to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement’s targets. Tackling energy security and climate change simultaneously is now a top priority for the U.N. Despite high-level political and corporate commitments to transition away from fossil fuels, issues related to clean-energy financing, slow project development, and scaling challenges are holding back progress. Meanwhile, global energy demand is rising, and climate-related disasters are becoming more frequent.
At UNGA79, leading up to COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Foreign Policy will convene leaders across government, industry, finance, and civil society to discuss practical, sustainable energy strategies and the partnerships needed to accelerate the clean transition affordably and reliably. The forum will cover critical topics like innovative finance, international policy and regulatory alignment, cleaner forms of baseload energy, using advanced tech to decarbonize the hardest-to-abate industries, and more.
