Integrating HIV and Emerging Infectious Disease Threats in PHC

The intersection of infectious diseases including HIV, Global Health Security (GHS), and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) presents a critical challenge to global health systems. Despite significant advancements, the integration of these areas into primary health care (PHC) remains fragmented, often leading to inefficiencies and suboptimal outcomes. Two decades of investment in successful HIV programs calls for a shift to community-led, sustainable and integrated services. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for robust and resilient health systems capable of addressing multiple health threats simultaneously.

This side event aims to discuss the integration of the response to infectious
diseases like HIV and other infectious disease threats into PHC. By leveraging our work to date, the fast advances in technology, finance, and service delivery models, we seek to demonstrate a future-ready approach to sustainable and scalable solutions that are developed by the people and with the people, can be adopted globally, and are responsive to Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

This interactive event will:

· Discuss the progress, current state, and future directions of HIV and emerging infectious health threats and their integration into primary health care

· Demonstrate capability and explore innovative and technological solutions that can enhance integration and improve health outcomes at multiple levels

· Examine new financing models and service delivery strategies that can support the sustainable integration of these health areas into PHC.

· Foster collaboration and partnerships among governments, international organizations, private sector, and civil society.
