Women and Peace in the Arab World

The role of women in peace in the Arab world is multifaceted and crucial. Historically, women in the Arab world have played significant roles in promoting peace, often through grassroots movements, advocacy, and community engagement. Despite challenges and cultural barriers, women in the region have been actively engaged in peacebuilding efforts, both at grassroots and leadership levels. Women’s inclusion in peace processes is crucial for sustainable peace. They bring unique perspectives, priorities, and solutions to the table, often emphasizing community needs and human security. They as well played role in conflicts M mediation and resolution. The Women Institute for Development and Peace is an independent, neutral, and self-financing, and is not affiliated with any institution or movement. The Institute supports the fields of studies and research related to peace and holds forums and debates to enrich the cultural and intellectual situation in society. The Institute pays attention to cultural, community, and developmental exchange with communities and institutions similar to it in orientations and interests. It also cares about youth, since they represent 70% of the total population of the State of Kuwait. Women are considered an important focus, as well as humanity in general, on the Institute’s agenda in all its issues, movements, achievements, failures, laws related to their rights, and the pursuit of further restoration of their rights. This lead to the formation of Arab women network for peace last year during its peace day celebration September 2023. It also i terested in spreading the culture of peace, tolerance, and moderation and concepts of democracy and human rights. For the first in the Middle East, if not the world , the deaf group in Kuwait performs the national anthem in sign language. It is the institute initiative that we are proud of.
