Production and Conservation: a virtuous cycle towards sustainability
In this event, Citrosuco, ECCON and Reservas Votorantim will present a new methodology to value the Environmental Services and good management practices in Citrus farms. The PES Carbon Agro Perennial methodology allows for quantification and valuation of the Environmental Services provided by the native vegetation contained in the farms, as well as the management practices which contribute to climate change mitigation and food security.
By implementing such methodology at scale, Brazil can show the climate change mitigation benefits of producing green/sustainable crops. Brazilian agriculture is at the forefront of combining conservation and sustainable production. Private farms in Brazil conserve over 80 million hectares of native vegetation while production (agriculture and pasture) occurs in over 250 million.
This event will have a discussion and grant access to the public consultation of the methodology for stakeholder inputs.
