Nature-based Solutions Walk for Climate
Join us for an inspiring Climate Week NYC event in Central Park’s Rambles on Friday, September 27th, 2024, from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. We’ll gather at Bethesda Fountain before embarking on a 1-2 mile walk through one of the park’s most biodiverse areas. This event highlights the critical role of nature-based solutions in addressing climate change, focusing on forest protection and restoration—key priorities for achieving IPCC goals by 2030.
As we walk, we will explore the rich biodiversity of the Rambles, home to over 230 bird species, diverse plant life, and unique geological features. This serene environment provides an excellent setting to discuss the importance of natural ecosystems in capturing carbon dioxide, preserving biodiversity, and supporting ecosystem services essential for human well-being.
Engaging discussions will cover the latest scientific insights and practical approaches to implementing nature-based solutions. We will share success stories from global and local initiatives, demonstrating the positive impact of community and organizational efforts. Participants will have the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and be inspired to take action in their own communities.
The event will conclude with a reflection at one of the Rambles’ scenic viewpoints, reinforcing the day’s messages and encouraging ongoing advocacy for sustainable practices and policies. Join us to celebrate nature and commit to making a difference in the fight against climate change.
