Best Practice for Natural Solutions in the Race to Zero
To view the recording of the event listing, click here.
In setting net zero targets, many countries and companies have focused on natural climate solutions (NCS) to deliver significant parts of their target. This can be viewed as an effective source of funding for precious nature and ecosystems and has helped bring many companies on board in the race to zero. But is has also brought criticism of potential greenwashing to cover up business as usual emissions.
ECIU’s ‘net zero tracker’ and the High-Level Climate Champions ‘Race to Zero’ aim to create a race to the top on climate action. But it is essential to ensure integrity of the solutions in delivering real carbon emissions reduction and create a competition for higher environmental and social standards.
This event explores the opportunity and limitations of NCS to deliver net zero targets and limiting global temperature rise to 1.5oC or even 2oC? Importantly, what is the best practice in delivering NCS to achieve maximum benefit for climate, ecosystems and society?
