Add to Calendar September 20, 2023 4:00 pm September 20, 2023 7:00 pm America/New_York Climate & Forced Displacement: the People Behind the Numbers

This side event will be a unique opportunity for a variety of development and humanitarian actors to come together and listen firsthand to refugees and implementing program officers. Attendees will be invited to engage with one another over hors d’oeuvres and drinks and enjoy a program with special guests sharing their lived experience and best practices and principles for supporting people on the move.
Our special guests will share their lived experience through a “gestalt” method discussion, wherein they will engage with one as panelists in a conversational and inquisitive approach – likened to a live podcast. They will also offer insight into their resilience and problem solving as it relates to their own emotions throughout their time on the move. This will, undoubtedly, bring attendees a very humbling and humanizing sentiment behind the numbers and statistics that more commonly frame the narrative of forced displacement.
Panelists will employ banter of the “gestalt” methodology in their remarks, which requires them to speak in the past tense, “feel emotion” and describe it, and story tell with names, places and dates.

Hors-d’oeuvres and drinks will be served.
