The Compost Liaisons program intends to support New Yorkers in the transition to composting as a result of New York’s recently passed CLCPA policy, which requires household waste sorting to encourage a dramatic shift in waste management across the city over the coming years and decades. The program will take place at the Urban Farm on Governors Island, graciously hosted in partnership with Earth Matter and supported by Pace University, Pratt Institute, NYU, RIT, CUNY, Grow NYC, and more.

The program will invite families from across New York City to engage with compost hands-on through activities that will include a composting relay race, lunch with reusable service ware, participatory art, compost education, raffle quizzes and prizes, and a dialogue with policy experts who understand the household-level implications of city-wide changes in waste management practices. The Exchange is coordinating outreach to program participants in partnership with our community partners.
