We are on the cusp of a fourth industrial revolution, one that will be driven by interconnectivity and digital transformation. According to the World Bank, the digital economy already accounts for 15.5% of the global GDP and it is growing more than double the rate of the traditional economy.

Despite the growing importance of the digital economy, multistakeholder international cooperation mechanisms haven’t kept apace. Data, ideas, and people need to be able to flow in a thriving digital economy. Stronger cooperation is needed to govern these flows and ensure a safe and secure digital economy for all.

The Digital Cooperation Organization’s event “Cooperation For Building an Inclusive Digital Economy”, and corresponding report, examine the barriers to a more inclusive digital economy – and how stronger cooperation can ensure that the digital economy reaches its full, global potential.
