The Elizabeth Fast Ferry, a new ferry running on biofuel and serving Lower Manhattan, will present its climate-neutral mission during Climate Week NYC.

Working to turn sea travel green, the Elizabeth Fast Ferry is the best option for tourists and daily commuters to travel sustainably and with a low environmental footprint. Linking Pier 15, in the South Street Seaport, to Elizabeth, New Jersey, in under 30 minutes, the service aims to be more than just a means of transportation.

The company is committed to creating a positive environmental impact, with support from the community, cities and customers. The ferry, which will connect with Newark Airport (via electric shuttle bus) is scheduled to ply a scenic route past the State of Liberty, through the Kill van Kull (waterway that separates Staten Island and New Jersey), and under the Bayonne Bridge, and is working towards supporting sustainable tourism and offering a clean, green, and safe service.

The Elizabeth Fast Ferry has an ambitious corporate climate strategy and plan for the future, as it intends to transition to fully electric vessels, hence becoming the first-ever ferry service to do so in the States of New York and New Jersey.

But the ambition goes beyond that, as the company is committed to measuring, reporting and reducing carbon emissions, meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals, and following sustainability key performance metrics. Inspired by Nature and working for the good of the community, the Elizabeth Fast Ferry hopes to lead by example and to actively engage with citizens to minimize the state’s environmental footprint.

The networking event will take place onboard the Elizabeth Fast Ferry, on September 23, at 7pm. Join this ride with a community of like-minded individuals from the public and private sector, key players in driving action on climate change.
