Financing Net-Zero in Latin America: Policy Instruments and Mechanisms
Latin American countries faces both challenges and opportunities as the region moves to decarbonise.
A key question is: “how do countries finance the required transition across important sectors of their economies?” In dialogues with the Deacarboost team, stakeholders in Government and the private sector highlighted policy instruments and mechanisms that can help to address the funding gap.
Decarboost is a three-year project funded by the International Climate Initiative, and launched in 2020 with the aim of supporting the region and three countries in particular: Argentina, Brazil and Peru, to catalyse the transition towards a low-carbon society and promote investments with resilient development.
Decarboost supports rapid decarbonisation across thee critical sectors: Energy, Transport, and Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Uses.
The webinar will present topical research including the role of the carbon pricing and financial instruments in the energy and transport sectors. The event will last 90 minutes. The format will be presentations and discussions by prominent academics, members of Government and leaders from the non-governmental sector in Brazil, Argentina and Peru.
