This event is an opportunity to learn first-hand about the experiences of the Huitoto, Muinane, Andoque, Tucano and Sikuani indigenous communities, representing 30 other communities, in the development of REDD+ projects in Colombia.

The projects, certified and registered in ICROA-approved platforms, represent global best practices in carbon credits. Through them, more than 20 million hectares of valuable Amazonian ecosystems have been preserved and more than 20 million tons of CO2 have been reduced. In addition to forest conservation, the projects have enabled significant progress in the development of social housing of high architectural and technical quality, highly complex health care, and the strengthening of “chagras”, traditional systems of sustainable land management by indigenous communities. Work has also been done to rescue and strengthen local cultural traditions.

This dynamic and sustainable conservation model is currently being implemented in some of the most biodiverse territories on the planet. We invite you to discover this inspiring story told by its leaders: the indigenous communities of the Colombian Amazon.
