Nations United: Launching the Decade of Action – SDG Action Zone
Plenary Session | Stage 1
Five years ago, the world agreed a historic plan to fight poverty, inequality and protect our planet – a set of 17 Goals known as the Sustainable Development Goals. We need the Goals today more than ever.
To mark the United Nations’ 75th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of these Goals, in the midst of a pandemic radically transforming our world, the UN is creating Nations United, a special, first of its kind 30- minute global broadcast.
Nations United will tell the story of the world as it is, as it was, and as it could be – focussing on stories across climate, justice and equality, education and gender, highlighting key themes as well as presenting facts and solutions behind each issue. The broadcast will combine powerful interviews with leading icons, activists and thinkers and dynamic archive stories.
After the broadcast on the 19th of September, we want to convene a panel of people to discuss what it took to make the broadcast possible and more importantly, what it’s going to take to make the solutions a reality. What cross-sector efforts need to be made in order to deliver the decade of action and make the Global Goals achieved by 2030?
