Partnering in a pandemic: Advancing global access to health during COVID-19
COVID-19’s long term impact on global health reaches far beyond an immediate health crisis – it has also disrupted basic health care services, elective surgeries, as well as the treatment of non-communicable diseases and chronic illnesses around the globe – and that negative repercussions could drastically increase if lockdowns continue or return.
To coincide with the 75th session of the U.N. General Assembly, Devex and Smile Train will host a virtual event to bring attention to the power of partnerships in advancing global access to care. A panel of experts will explore how we can tackle some of the current barriers to access, including the need for better education and continued training, as well as more research and development.
The event will explore how partnerships can serve as a driver to ensure project sustainability and empowering local health personnel to expand access to care in the COVID-19 era. A panel of experts will also share insights on how organizations are able to deliver care to patients in need despite restrictions, lockdowns and health and safety risks for those at the frontline of care.
