4th Annual Meeting of the UN Group of Friends to Eliminate Hepatitis

Formed under the leadership of Egypt’s permanent mission to the UN, the Group of Friends aims to increase health diplomacy, as well as national and international commitments, to achieve WHO targets of hepatitis elimination by 2030. In response to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.3, which calls for the world to combat hepatitis, the UN Group of Friends to Eliminate Hepatitis creates a forum for Member States to exchange information on progress, innovations and lessons learned with other Member States, organizations within the UN system, technical experts, civil society organizations and with other stakeholders. Through collective influence, the UN Group of Friends convenes UN special events, contributes to UN resolutions and other calls for action that accelerate progress toward the WHO goals for hepatitis elimination.

The UN Group of Friends to Eliminate Hepatitis welcomes Uganda, Malaysia, and Brazil to the Leadership Circle, joining Egypt. The Group of Friends will hold its fourth annual meeting during UNGA 80 in New York City on September 22, 2025 at the Yale Club of New York.
