Biosafety harmonization across ASEAN member states: facilitating Technology and Capacity building.
The recent pandemic has highlighted the frailty of many healthcare systems for ASEAN member states.
A comprehensive assessment of surveillance processes, including biosafety and collection of biological samples, was conducted during the last 4 years, identifying areas of need.
Responding to this work, the ASEAN Health Secretariat has achieved an in-principle agreement for regional cooperation towards SDG3 and the harmonization of protocols for the biosafety strengthening.
The session will present the work undertaken, leading to this agreement, the agreement itself, as well as the anticipated future steps and areas of opportunity.
