Building Climate-Resilient Health Systems: Lessons from Sierra Leone and Global Perspectives

Climate change poses significant threats to global health, especially in vulnerable areas like Sierra Leone. The 2017 Freetown mudslide underscores the need for integrated climate and health strategies. Sierra Leone is responding with initiatives like enhancing climate resilience in peripheral health units, and introducing sustainable water, energy solutions, and hybrid ambulances. This side event will showcase these efforts and promote a global dialogue on resilient health systems.

Dr Vanessa Kerry, Co-founder and CEO of Seed Global Health and the Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health for the World Health Organization, will be delivering the keynote address.
