ClimateIQ: Exploring the Potential of AI Tools for Climate Risk and Resilience
As climate change continues to pose significant threats to cities worldwide, the need for advanced tools and technologies to help communities prepare and adapt has never been more critical. Join us for a co-production workshop and panel presentation exploring the potential uses, risks, and opportunities of AI to provide communities with hyperlocal data to better understand their risks and prepare for climate threats.
The event will include a panel discussion with City agency representatives and practitioners from the Urban Design Forum’s Rewire program, and showcase ClimateIQ – a freely accessible AI-driven climate hazard assessment tool being developed by The New School’s Urban Systems Lab and partners with support from Google.org. Learn more about how ClimateIQ uses advanced approaches to climate modeling and machine learning to identify areas most at risk, and hear from Google.org representatives about their support for projects that accelerate technological advances in climate information and action.
The session will conclude with an interactive user research workshop inviting participants to share their insights with climate hazard tools and threats to ensure ClimateIQ’s accessibility and usefulness in NYC and beyond. Join us afterwards for a reception with light refreshments, and an opportunity to network with others working to improve climate resilience in cities worldwide.
