Digitalization of Healthcare: from Technology to Insights

Digitalisation is often uncritically hailed as a panacea to healthcare needs. Of course, there are many examples where digitalisation has improved or simplified access to healthcare, alleviated strains due to lack of healthcare workers, and enabled the management of emerging diseases. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) sees digital technology as a key factor that will help expand universal health coverage by eliminating a number of barriers such as costs, complicated access and lack of quality of care, while extending the range of services, particularly in regions where infrastructure and personnel are scarce or non-existent. Realizing the full potential of digital health we can achieve the sustainable development goal 3 (SDG 3), good health and well-being for all. In this session we will explore how the technology and innovations that have been implemented are now delivering insights for healthcare and provides a measurable impact and improvement to the quality of healthcare in different populations globally.
