From SARS to Ebola: Lessons in outbreak preparedness and response

A Nipah virus scare in Asia. Hantavirus striking a cruise ship. An ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The COVID-19 pandemic might be over but in our increasingly interconnected world, diseases continue to test countries’ defences.

Singapore and Hilleman Laboratories will be hosting an event on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week to draw lessons from recent outbreaks on strengthening preparedness for future health emergencies.

Bringing together global health leaders for a panel discussion on pivot-ready partnerships, the event will examine what it takes to develop and deploy vaccines and other countermeasures when new threats emerge.

Mr Ong Ye Kung, Singapore’s Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, will deliver opening remarks.

Registrations will be issued once reviewed by the organizers.

Breakfast will be on offer.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister of Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies of Singapore;

  • Dr. Raman Rao, CEO, Hilleman Laboratories.

With more to follow.
