GloCha UN HQ NY Conference 2024 – Celebrating the Future with Culture, Youth, Digital Innovation & Localization of SDGs

Purpose:

This conference, held just before the UN Summit of the Future 2024, focuses on engaging youth, promoting digital innovation, and localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It brings together various stakeholders to explore creative solutions and governance innovations essential for a sustainable future.

Agenda Highlights:

– Welcome and Thematic Introduction (10:00 – 10:30 AM):

– Localization of SDGs & Governance Innovation (10:30 AM – 12:15 PM): (1) Presentations of the UN Habitat’s localization of SDGs program, (2) Discussion of governance innovation in the context of the UN Summit of the Future – Keynote by Prof. Frank Biermann on GlobalGoals research project recommendations, (3) Introduction to GloCha’s Challenges Mapping and Local Pacts for the Future.

– Data and Digital Innovation (12:15 – 1:15 PM): Exploration of digital solutions for societal engagement in SDG implementation. (1) Insights from UN Environment’s “One Map” initiative and GloCha’s citizen science entrepreneurship ecosystem initiative, (2) Contributions from IRCAI and other digital education experts on empowering communities through data-driven approaches.

– Creating the Future with Music and Art (3:00 – 4:00 PM): Showcasing GloCha’s edutainment and creative economy initiatives, Discussion on mobilizing global music and art networks for SDG implementation, Presentations of best practices from international collaborations.

– Young Future Creators (4:00 – 5:00 PM):
Collaborative session highlighting youth-led innovations and ideas for the future.

– Reception and Exhibit Presentation (6:15 – 8:00 PM):

Expected Outcomes:

– Strengthened collaboration between youth, local communities, and global partners.
– Enhanced digital innovation and data integration for SDG localization.
– Increased awareness of cultural initiatives and their role in climate action and sustainable development.
