Integrating a Gender Lens in the Fight Against Malaria: A dialogue exploring the power of women’s leadership in Malaria Eradication

Malaria remains to be one of the world’s killer diseases claiming lives and countries’ progress especially in areas with limited/ scarce resources.  The impact of malaria is greater among marginalized communities particularly affecting women and children. Although women play a critical role in healthcare they are underrepresented holding just a quarter of leadership positions across the global health space.

This side event will explore how reimagining leadership, particularly by elevating women in leadership roles, can significantly impact the fight against malaria, especially in the context of climate change, and drive better health outcomes. It will bring together experts, policymakers, and advocates to discuss strategies, share experiences, and forge partnerships to advance gender equality in health leadership and malaria elimination efforts, with a focus on the intersection of climate change and health.

With a shared vision of a healthier world, both WomenLift Health and RBM Partnership to End Malaria, organizations are committed to creating a world free from major health burdens. RBM aims for a malaria-free world, while WomenLift Health strives for a world where diverse leaders transform health outcomes.  It will serve as a catalyst for change, demonstrating that reimagining leadership, particularly by elevating women, is crucial for achieving a world free from malaria and addressing the impacts of climate change. By highlighting the synergies between WomenLift Health and RBM Partnership, we aim to inspire collective action and drive meaningful progress in gender equality, malaria elimination, and climate resilience.
