Integrating HIV and Emerging Infectious Disease Threats in PHC
The intersection of infectious diseases, such as HIV, and antimicrobial resistance and global health security presents a critical challenge to global health systems. Despite significant advancements, the ability of primary health care (PHC) to effectively assess and manage these issues remains fragmented, often leading to inefficiencies and suboptimal outcomes. Experience from two decades of investment in successful HIV programs calls for a shift to community-led, sustainable and integrated services. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for robust and resilient health systems capable of addressing multiple health threats simultaneously.
Join Jhpiego and the Clinton Health Access Initiative at UNGA 79 for a dynamic conversation across two continents on integrating response to HIV and other infectious disease threats into PHC. By leveraging our work to date and advancing technology, finance and service delivery models, a future-ready approach to sustainable and scalable solutions, developed by the people and with the people, can be adopted globally to work toward universal health coverage.
Participants will gain new insights and strategies on:
• Progress, current state and future directions of integrating HIV and emerging infectious health threats into PHC.
• Innovative and technological solutions that can enhance integration and improve health outcomes at multiple levels.
• New financing models and service delivery strategies that support sustainable integration of these health areas into PHC.
• Fostering collaboration and partnerships among governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society.
