‘Legacies’ book reading and film screening – Arts for the Future Festival – UNGA / Climate Action Week – 2025

‘Legacies’. Forty-five minute on-line zoom event. The event will have 4 aspects: 1) introductions of the themes and the people in the room, 2) reading from the novel ‘Louise’, by recently diseased Afro Canadian American authour Richard Lewis Heath, 3) screening of film ‘The Einsteins’ Daughter – An Orphan Odyssey’, by Odette Laramee and Jennifer Langley, 4) group discussion. Overview: ‘Louise’ is the main character in Heath’s novel which explores a women’s journey from inviting her students to reflect on human rights, to assisting in ‘the human project’ – this leads to her being asked to participate at the United Nations. The reading will be followed by an American film screening premiere: ‘The Einsteins’ Daughter – An Orphan Odyssey’. “A grown-up fairytale and sublime tour-de-force … which, brings about a reckoning. History will never be the same.” Our focus will be: heart-based and non-linear timelines’ role in re-visioning just and inclusive pasts and futures.
