Lung health matters – accelerating progress towards UN NCD targets High-level Side Event at UNGA 80
‘Lung health matters – accelerating progress towards UN NCD targets’ – a High-Level Side Event at the UNGA2025 sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Malaysia and the Government of Romania.
If you are attending the #UNGA80, join experts including José Luis Castro of World Health Organization (WHO), European Lung Foundation‘s Kjeld Hansen, Clean Air Fund’s Sean Maguire, and representatives of the Romanian and Malaysian governments.
The event will spotlight:
- The high societal costs of CRDs and their main risk factors;
- The significance of prevention, early diagnosis and intervention in managing CRDs;
- The actions that prioritise lung health and preventive measures;
- The importance of advocating for political commitment and the mobilisation of resources to integrate CRDs within primary care;
- Advocating for the integration of lung health into environmental policies, with a specific focus on air pollution, climate change, and tobacco use.
The event follows the release of the WHO Europe-ERS Report into CRDs in the WHO European Region, which highlights that despite progress in reducing CRD mortality, their health, economic and societal burden, and related inequities remain high.
