Mobilising Capital for Science: Unlocking Investment in Research, Innovation, and Technology in Developing Countries Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals depends on bridging the investment gap in science, technology, and innovation (STI) across developing countries. This roundtable will explore the role of capital markets in financing science-driven development, with a focus on de-risking investment, attracting private capital, and building long-term research and innovation ecosystems. Participants will discuss innovative financial instruments, policy reforms, and public–private partnerships that can help shift STI from a grant-dependent sector to a viable, investable domain. The session aims to generate actionable ideas for strengthening the enabling environment for STI investment in low- and middle-income countries, aligning financial markets with sustainable and inclusive development outcomes.
