Move the Money: From Militarization Back to Communities

What becomes possible when we invest in people instead of war?

Join the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom US (WILPF US) and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation for Move the Money: From Militarism Back to Communities, a free, day-long gathering at The People’s Forum in New York City, held alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Bringing together peacebuilders, artists, activists, students, NGO representatives, and community members, the event will explore what becomes possible when we shift resources away from militarization and invest instead in people, communities, and the systems that sustain peace.

Through panel discussions, artist talks, a Women & Peace Art Exhibition, and interactive community activities, participants will hear from people working across peacebuilding, community safety, economic and environmental justice, gender, and social movements. Attendees will also have opportunities to explore art, contribute to a community conversation, co-create art, and connect with people working across movements.

The gathering invites participants to imagine—and identify concrete ways to advance—alternatives to militarization and greater investment in community wellbeing.

Presented by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom US (WILPF US) and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.
