Multifaceted Impact of Sudan War on Sciences, Education and Scientific Research; Managing Challenges and Building Resilience. Abstract: Since April 15th, 2023, Sudan has faced the largest crisis in its history with millions of people losing their homes along with destruction to the infrastructure, and disruption of basic needs and services. The impact of war on sciences is multifaceted, influencing the aims, methods, and outcomes of scientific endeavors in significant ways including direct threats to scientists and limitations on their academic activities, disturbances of psychological well-being, and difficulties in adapting to new communities, brain drain, limited Funding for research which is often diverted to immediate humanitarian needs in addition to the destruction of infrastructures which can set back scientific progress. Ensuring the safety of scientists, and educational facilities during conflicts is crucial for protecting the right to education and promoting stability in affected communities. A session on sciences, education, and scientific research in war-affected zones would aim to address the unique challenges and opportunities and bring together all stakeholders to discuss strategies for conducting effective solutions in these challenging contexts.

Aims and objectives:

1. Identify challenges.

2. Develop collaborative networks by fostering multidisciplinary collaborations and encouraging partnerships between institutions in stable regions and those in conflict zones.

3. Enhance capacity building by providing training and resources and explore the use of innovative technologies.

4. Formulate recommendations for policymakers to support scientific activities, and contribute to post-conflict recovery and development.

Expected Outcomes:

1. Comprehensive understanding of challenges and solutions.

2. Strengthened networks.

3. Enhance capacity building and enhance ethical practice in conflict zones.

4. Concrete policy recommendations and advocacy strategies to secure funding.

5. Documentation and dissemination of findings including a report summarizing key discussions, recommendations, and action plans.

Solutions to address these challenges include:

1. Investing in infrastructure improvements.

2. Increase Funding and offer financial support.

3. Retention Strategies: · Implementing security measures can help alleviate fears and encourage professionals to remain in war-affected zones. · Providing opportunities for professional development and career advancement. · Establishing support services, such as mental health resources. · Engaging with the local community and fostering a sense of belonging. · Facilitating international collaboration and partnerships. By implementing these strategies, organizations, and governments can work to retain skilled professionals in war-affected zones, promoting stability, resilience, and development.
