OneSCD: A Global Partnership to Advance Equity and Transform Sickle Cell Care

Held on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, this high-level event will officially launch OneSCD, a new global partnership dedicated to advancing equity and transforming care for people living with sickle cell disease (SCD). Hosted by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and co-organized with UNICEF, WHO, Africa CDC, the World Coalition on Sickle Cell Disease, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the event will bring together government leaders, UN agencies, health experts, civil society, and people with lived experience. The launch will highlight the urgent need for coordinated global action to address disparities in SCD diagnosis, treatment, and survival, present the Partnership’s vision and strategic priorities, and mobilize support for country-led efforts to expand newborn screening, strengthen health systems, and scale up comprehensive SCD care worldwide.
