Photo Exhibition ‘Sudan Uncensored: Breaking the Blackout’

Avaaz presents ‘Sudan Uncensored: Breaking the Blackout’, an immersive exhibition bringing Sudan’s war out of the darkness. On view at Gambit Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, the exhibition brings together work by 16 award-winning photographers revealing both the devastation of war and the ingenuity of people who refuse to be forgotten.

The war in Sudan has engulfed a nation of 50 million people. More people have been forced to flee their homes than in any other current conflict. Yet the conflict remains mostly invisible to the world. ‘Sudan Uncensored’ seeks to ensure that Sudanese voices and the realities of the war are not pushed further into silence.

Avaaz is a global movement of millions of people taking action on issues including human rights, climate change, and humanitarian crises. Since 2024, Avaaz has supported freelance journalists reporting from Sudan and its borders, helping sustain and expand coverage at a time when access to the country has become severely limited.
