Sustaining Sierra Leone’s Triple Zero Gains

Political leadership, partnership and financing for maternal and child survival

Convened by the Ministry of Health, Government of Sierra Leone, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, this high-level convening will bring together political leaders, health ministers, financing institutions, philanthropic organisations and development partners to advance sustained investment in maternal and child survival.

Sierra Leone’s presidential initiative, 300 Days of Activism for Triple Zero, focuses on ending preventable maternal deaths, ending preventable infant and child deaths, and reaching children who have missed routine immunisation. The convening will examine the country’s early gains and the partnerships, delivery capacity and financing needed to sustain progress through 2028.

Discussions will focus on priority gaps in care, opportunities for sustained financing, and lessons from African countries on political leadership, health workforce capacity, data and innovation. Participants will explore how domestic resources, grants and other financing instruments can support nationally led priorities, with practical next steps for collaboration and follow-up.

The convening is organised in collaboration with the Global Leaders Network (GLN), Future Perspectives, the Women’s Health and Economic Empowerment Network (WHEN), and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH).
