The Power of Convergence: Enabling Prevention and Management of Obesity and Related NCDs
Co-hosted with our partners, Novo Nordisk and HLTH, will focus on Convergence of Science, Finance, Health, and Economic Impact.
With experts from each discipline, we will examine the benefits and the obstacles to much closer cooperation between these important and essential elements, objective being to create permanent partnerships between these disciplines and produce practical ways of working together, to utilise the collective power to tackle global issues.
A practical example of this approach is our focus on enabling prevention and management of Obesity and related NCDs with Convergence.
Spotlighting a critical global challenge: obesity—a key driver of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs)—we will explore the urgent need for a convergent approach to address it.
As the burden of NCDs continues to grow, it is increasingly clear that health cannot be addressed in isolation. Today’s focus is on the convergence of sectors—economy, finance, health, and science—to create integrated solutions that move us from reactive illness care to proactive wellness systems.
Through this lens of convergence we aim to:
- Inform and empower multi-stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, and health system leaders, with evidence and insights to shape more cohesive and effective obesity strategies.
- Promote alignment across public health, sustainable development, and economic agendas, reinforcing the need to embed obesity prevention within the broader context of the SDGs.
- Examine how cross-sector collaboration—between government, academia, industry, and civil society—can unlock innovative financing, drive systemic change, and build resilient, person-centered health systems.
By embracing convergence, we can shift from fragmented efforts to unified action—transforming the way we prevent and manage obesity and related NCDs on a global scale.
