Despite incredible innovations in technology, medicine, environmental science, and more, our progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is falling short of our aspirations.
The nature of global challenges is changing and the way we approach development must change with it. Where and how we invest matters. Now more than ever, we need to invest in the development of local leaders from diverse genders, backgrounds, countries, cultures, disciplines, and sectors, who are bringing a richness of experience, expertise, and perspectives to the table. But leadership like this doesn’t appear out of nowhere. We need intentional investment in people — equipping them to address the world’s evolving challenges, and to lead with resilience, compassion and courage.
