Upstream Prevention: From Global Commitments to National Action

The best pandemic response is the one we never need.

As the UN General Assembly turns its attention to pandemic prevention, UNDP, WCS, PPATS, FOUR PAWS and the Planetary Health Alliance will co-host a high-level discussion that delivered a strong message:

 Preventing the next pandemic means acting before pathogen spillover occurs.

One of the key lessons from zoonotic diseases such as Ebola, is that we cannot rely on pandemic response alone. We must also address the conditions that allow new diseases to emerge and spread.

Ahead of the UN High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, this cross-cutting event will bring together senior policymakers, scientists and civil society leaders to discuss what effective prevention requires.
