A Conversation with Garden Scientist Fabián Michelangeli, Ph.D.
The Atlantic Coastal Forest of Brazil is recognized as one of Earth’s biodiversity hotspots. Nearly half of the plants growing there are found nowhere else—and many of them are in danger of extinction, primarily from human activities. Garden scientist Dr. Fabián Michelangeli discusses his long-term research efforts to understand the relationships among climate, geography, and plant diversity in the region, and relate this information to broader patterns of plant diversity in South America.
