Aligning Private Sector Disclosures with the Sustainable Development Agenda- Launch of Carrots & Sticks Report
GRI, in partnership with UNEP One Planet Network, Baruch College, The Governance and Accountability Institute (G&A), Kings College London, The University of Edinburgh and Stellenbosch Business School, will host this in-person event with the aim of endorsing the call for effective policies and suitable regulatory frameworks to support the alignment of private sector disclosure requirements with sustainable development objectives based on globally recognized frameworks and standards as a critical action to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The event will focus on the implementation of SDG 12.6 worldwide, with insights into the state of play of sustainability reporting policies, disclosure requirements, and regulations. The program will include the launch of the Carrots & Sticks (C&S) report and database, a free-to-use online database and document repository of both mandatory and voluntary sustainability and ESG public policy instruments. The data comprises 2,463 policies in 132 countries, 76 international and regional organizations, in 38 languages, which range from 1897 to the present day.
The conversation will shed light on insights from the dataset, demonstrating how Carrots & Sticks supports different stakeholders in navigating the complex landscape of sustainability and ESG policies. It aims to reignite momentum toward accelerated actions leading up to 2030. By reflecting on how policymakers can set the right incentives and frameworks that accounts for the private sector impacts and contributions, sustainability data can enable actions and transformative changes.
