Countries must prioritize pro-renewable environments if they are to successfully attract global investment into their economies. Renewable electricity, specifically solar, is one of the cheapest sources of energy in history. But many countries are failing to capitalize. Around the world, corporates are looking for opportunities to invest at scale in renewable electricity, but potential is being hindered by restrictive regulatory environments and market barriers.

The G20 has a critical role to play. It can demonstrate its leadership, create economically driven renewable electricity policies, and collectively unleash the potential of the RE sector. In doing so it can inspire other nations to follow suit.

This roundtable will highlight the latest insights from Climate Group’s renewable electricity research, highlighting some of the common policy barriers and market restrictions across ten G20 countries. We’ll invite participants to discuss the findings and explore viable solutions to removing barriers. RE100 will highlight how we are supporting governments through our country presence and partnerships in a select set of countries in question.
