The Countdown Begins
In September 2023, a crucial event is set to take place: the SDG Summit. This important meeting will bring together world leaders, the United Nations, and representatives from across all sectors to review our progress and ramp up our efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UN Foundation is organizing the SDG Summit Curtain Raiser to kick-start this exciting time, with the support of thousands of young people mobilized for the SDG Summit through the Engine Room.
Young people are at the heart of this effort.
They aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow; they’re leading today. These young leaders are the ones who will feel the effects of our success or failure in achieving the SDGs most acutely.
Often at the forefront of movements advocating for change, they bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions to the table, along with a sense of urgency to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.
Their forward-thinking perspective helps bridge divides and promote solidarity between generations. This ensures that our actions today are sustainable, fair, and consider the needs of both current and future generations.
The Engine Room
In less than six months, the Engine Room has acted as a nurturing ground for over 500 vibrant young pioneers, spread across eight thematic Action Groups that touch on all 17 Global Goals. Each group contributes towards the SDGs through bold ideas, creative solutions, and mobilization to demonstrate that progress is both possible and achievable.
The SDG Summit Curtain Raiser will give these young innovators a chance to voice their ambitions, setting the stage for actions that align with the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
This event will also launch a roadmap created by young people, aimed at accelerating progress on the SDGs and preparing for a 2100 Agenda.
